Collection: Treasures from the Lafleur Jewel Box

Château Lafleur may be the greatest Bordeaux wine that few of us ever talk about. Standing adjacent to Petrus, with a wonderful gravelly terroir and old vines, Lafleur produces startlingly different wines from anywhere else in Pomerol. Lafleur is a compelling, heady wine of gorgeous texture and endless subtleties. We are pleased to offer a variety of formats and vintages.

And yet Lafleur represents only one of the Guinaudeau family’s many gems. Les Perrières is from a family vineyard in Fronsac, east of St. Emilion. Here the limestone soils yield a particularly perfumed, suave expression of Right Bank Bordeaux, with a high proportion of Bouchet (older selection of Cabernet Franc), the family’s calling card. Similarly sophisticated is the white Champs Libres, which can contend with the best dry whites of Bordeaux. 100% Sauvignon Blanc grown on clay and limestone soils, this is a beautifully aromatic and fine-boned wine.

Back at the main vineyard in Pomerol, Les Pensées is not a second wine since the grapes are always taken from the same plot, a clay strip that runs through the heart of the vineyard. Much of the chocolatey richness and velvety texture of top-class Pomerol is in evidence here, along with Bouchet’s complex perfume. Any one of these wines is a treat; buy one of each for a feast.
