Despite being located in Morey St. Denis, the Perrot-Minot domaine, led by Christophe Perrot-Minot, has enviable holdings of many of the Gevrey-Chambertin Grands Crus. His range is an opportunity to compare these wonderful sites, and particularly when the winemaking is as good as it is here.
In the past, Christophe's wines have been criticised for being too sweet and rich, but recent vintages have shown a turn towards finesse and savoury complexity, a style which – as Rousseau shows – gets the most out of the Chambertin Grands Crus. Expect the 2017s to be more approachable than the more concentrated and riper 2018s today, although both vintages will display a similar aromatic class, svelte texture and huge reserves of flavour. This is a benchmark domaine, producing their best wines yet.
