Collection: Sotheby’s Newest Fine Wine Specialist

Dear Clients,

After finding my way from the kitchens of Philadelphia to the cellars of Houston, I am thrilled to be at Sotheby’s as the newest Fine Wine Specialist. Some of my favorite years in wine were spent teaching as Director of Education at the Texas Wine School, so please don’t hesitate to reach out via email, phone, or in person at our retail store. What good is being a wine lover if you can’t share your passion (and collection) with others?

Today, I’ve selected a few of my favorites to give you all a sense of my taste:

Jean-Louis Chave Saint Joseph Clos Florentin – I adore all of Chave’s wine, but the Clos Florentin has a special place in my heart. Chave has only been bottling this 80-year-old plot separately since 2015, with a yearly production of less than a tenth of what he bottles in Hermitage. It’s rare, stunning Syrah that flies under the radar all too often.

Egon Muller – Muller makes gravity-defying wines that define world-class Riesling. They are concentrated, intense, and yes, sweet, yet manage to feel feathery and weightless on the palate. As fall rolls in, open a bottle with cheese & apples to feel the magic for yourself.

Jean-Claude Ramonet – Any honest list of my favorites needs at least one great master of Burgundy, and of all the masters, Ramonet has always felt the most worthy. His whites are virtuosic, layering textures and tastes over one another to incredible levels of nuance. His reds, while never the main event, remain some of the greatest value wines left in Burgundy.

Please enjoy these wines and don’t hesitate to reach out!
