Complexity and Ageworthiness
St. Emilion is a large appellation, but the geographical and qualitative high points are closest to the village. It is here, on the chalky slopes and plateau, that St. Emilion produces the fragrant, rich, fresh wines that offer so much complexity and ageworthiness.
At an every day level, Chauvin, Corbin and Villemaurine are classics of the genre. Moving up the quality ladder, the brilliant Canon, rich Larcis Ducasse, Troplong Mondot and Beausejour Becot all offer wonderful expressions of the village. The most famous wines of St. Emilion are among Bordeaux’s finest: Figeac, Cheval Blanc and Ausone, wines of remarkable beauty and finesse.
