From 1.5L to 18L Bottles: Large-Format Bordeaux

Wine Team New York |

What better time than the holidays to open a large format bottle to share with family and friends? And what better wine to do it with than Bordeaux? Bordeaux pairs well with virtually anything hearty, and offers both great value drinking and some of the qualitative peaks of the wine world.

Magnums of Capbern or Grand Village, with a few years age, for under $65 are an example of Bordeaux's value potential, as is Croix de Beaucaillou 2015 in a 6L bottle (equivalent to 8 regular bottles). Moving up the quality scale, how about a 9L bottle (i.e. 12 regular bottles) of Margaux, in the form of Giscours 2009? And if only First Growths will do, Margaux 1996, Mouton 2001 and Latour 1995 all make for stunning drinking today. Enjoy.
