Collection: The Magician of Verduno: Burlotto

Under the management of Fabio Alessandria, the wines of GB Burlotto are now a standard feature of conversation concerning the top producers in Barolo. In Verduno, the northern part of Barolo, the wines have always leaned towards the lighter and more fragrant. But Alessandria's wines take this a step further, with a gentleness of touch and aromatic sophistication that beguiles.

We are currently selling two very contrasting vintages, both of which are in prime shape to drink today. 2017 was a warm, concentrated year but is maturing relatively quickly, while 2018 is one of the lighter years in recent times. What the wines lack in structure for aging, they compensate for with winsome aromatics and silky textures.

Burlotto's Barolo is a blend from several vineyards in Verduno, while the Acclivi is a selection from top parcels within the same sites. We also have a couple of bottles of the hard-to-find Monvigliero, Fabio's top single vineyard, famously made with whole-cluster fruit, yielding a particularly intense spicy perfume and sapid quality.
