Collection: Rosé: Our Current Recommendations

’Tis the season, and when it comes to rosé, the classics never fade in interest, while newcomers are always worth (an inexpensive) roll of the dice. Among the latter category, Venturi’s rosé from Corsica is a delight; full of flavor while fresh and saline too. From Alpine Italy, the rosato from Nervi-Conterno (the variety is Nebbiolo) is gorgeously floral and pure. A little further north, the steep slopes of the Wachau above the Danube River in eastern Austria are the source of Weingut Knoll’s peppery-fresh contribution to the category.

As for the classics, Ott de Selle and, at a more everyday price, Sainte Roseline are classics of the Provençal genre; you can almost hear the cicadas as you sip. Vacheron has long been celebrated as one of the greatest white Sancerre exponents; try the rosé for a truly complex and interesting drink.

Finally, let’s not neglect Champagne: the Roederer Starck bottling is, with its absence of dosage, thrillingly pure; while Dom Pérignon’s 2010 is simply brilliant today.
