Collection: Ramonet: The Benchmark in Chassagne-Montrachet

It's hard to sustain any discussion of great white Burgundies without mention of Domaine Ramonet. For decades, these have been among the most exciting wines from Chassagne-Montrachet. The style of the whites is quite distinctive: very concentrated, with layers of fruit harnessed to a powerful phenolic and acidic structure. This can make the wines forbidding when just bottled, but after a few years their full dimensions reveal themselves.

Most recently, brothers Jean-Claude and Noël have begun vinifying their sides of the domaine holdings separately, so you will see two Ramonet labels from the 2023 vintage.

Among our broad range, the reds are hard to resist: the Côteaux Bourguignon, with its dash of Gamay, is a deliciously fruity opening act. The Monthélie reds offer classic Côte de Beaune pinosité for a fair price. Among the whites, the Grands Crus are hard to better anywhere, but I draw particular attention to the Puligny Enseignères, a high-toned wine combining Puligny precision with the Ramonet millefeuille of fruit.
