Collection: Morey St. Denis: the Leading Producers

Morey St. Denis is one of those villages that goes overlooked by many Burgundy lovers. Yes, it has wonderful Grands Crus such as the many Clos vineyards: St. Denis, de la Roche, de Tart and Lambrays. But only a tiny proportion of this small village is Premier Cru, a classification level that often supplies much lustre to a village. Stylistically, Morey St. Denis should combine the aromatic interest of Chambolle to the south with the intricacy and structure of Gevrey to the north. That is, these wines are both earthy and pretty; succulent and dry.

We stock a range of top producers, beginning with Arlaud, whose pure, chiselled style ensures precise renditions of the village. Coquard-Loison-Fleurot leans slightly more towards softness and charm, while Fourrier's style is all Gevrey-Chambertin, as you would expect: fine-boned, complex and satisfying. Lambrays, of course, is a flagship producer here now under LVMH ownership; the Loups Premier Cru, a blend of three sites, is succulent and generous.
