Collection: Glorious Gaja Gems

From their understated premises on Barbaresco's main street, the Gaja family has long led not only the Barbaresco appellation but has also blazed a trail for the Langhe hills as a whole. Today, the Gaja wines are a far cry from the heavy, oaky style of the late 1990s and early 2000s. Instead, the wines are paragons of Nebbiolo grace: aromatic, silky and long.

Our current selection from the Barbaresco side of the operation includes the benchmark village wine and two back-to-back exceptional vintages of the single vineyard Costa Russi. Coming from a lower site, the Costa Russi tends to mature relatively fast, meaning the 2015 (especially) and 2016 may be enjoyed today.

From Barolo, Conteisa is from the village of La Morra, yielding a supple, medium-bodied, aromatic style; Da Gromis blends the finesse of La Morra with the authority of Serralunga; and Sperss, probably the family's most celebrated Barolo, comes from an outstanding site in Serralunga. The resulting wine is among the most long-lived and complex of the Gaja portfolio.

See below our full selection from Gaja, offering gems from Brunello to Ca'Marcanda.
