The Hospices de Beaune is without doubt the most famous wine auction, and reflects a legacy stretching back more than half a millennium. The beautiful Hospices building in central Beaune was originally a hospital for pilgrims, to which landowners left Burgundy vineyards on their deaths. Today, the Hospices continues its charitable mission by selling the wine from its vineyards and directing the proceeds to Beaune's modern-day hospital. We at Sotheby's run the auction, which occurs every November.

The Guigone de Salins is a concentrated, rich Premier Cru, blended from the Champs Pimont and Bressandes climats; the Dames Hospitalières (a blend of Bressandes, Teurons and Mignottes) is particularly structured and ageworthy; and the single vineyard Avaux, muscular and intense.
Additionally, we are delighted to offer a Volnay Santenots; this, one of Volnay's best Premiers Crus, offers all the floral fragrance of the village along with good structure for aging.
