Collection: Dominus: A Napa Classic for Good Reason

After studying at UC Davis in the 1960s, Christian Moueix of Bordeaux's Right Bank acquired the Napanook vineyard site in Yountville in the early 1980s. This is now the longstanding home of his Dominus estate, which, since its inception, has been a reference point for Napa Valley.

Moueix has always resisted making the very hedonistic style of Napa that is immediately accessible. Instead, the Bordeaux influence is visible in the elegance and restraint of the wines, which always benefit from a few years of bottle age. The vineyards are dry-farmed (unirrigated) to encourage deep rooting; a differentiating feature in the region and one which promotes complexity and depth in the fruit.

We have the glorious 2021 vintage of Dominus available in both bottles and magnums, a hallowed year in the region, as well as our final few magnums of the second wine, Napanook. In keeping with its Bordeaux spirit, don't be afraid to decant Dominus for a couple of hours before serving to allow the aromas to emerge and fruit to soften.
