Those in the know are as inclined as we are to keep it that way – but if unfamiliar to you, please allow us to introduce the Amélie: a modest, rising star producing pure and vibrant wines, with pricing that, at least for now, lags meaningfully behind the domaine’s trajectory.

That said, Berthaut is no longer the unknown quantity she was when she burst onto the Burgundy scene a decade ago in her twenties. As she has received the recognition she deserves, so have her cuvées improved, with this charming domaine now responsible for some of the most compelling wines out of Fixin, alongside standout expressions from other notable holdings across the Côtes de Nuits.

The Berthaut-Gerbet style combines glossy, concentrated fruit with excellent freshness, minerality, and terroir expression. Given that Amélie is married to one of the region's preeminent viticulturalists, Nicolas Faure, the vibrancy and purity of fruit to these wines should come as no surprise, and yet I find myself caught off guard by their effortless quality almost every time I revisit a bottle.

Rather than demanding patience, this is a style that immediately charms, with enough structure to evolve gracefully over the medium term. The 2023s were especially memorable – with vivid red fruits, supple, silk-like texture, and a fine throughline of acidity maintaining focus and verve, even in the warmer year.
