Château Latour: On Top Form

Château Latour: On Top Form

Wine Team New York |

What can one say about Château Latour? Even among Bordeaux’s First Growth properties, it is a hallowed name, revered by wine lovers for its sumptuous, velvety fruit, its deep, cedary nose and eternal finish. But in the past couple of decades, the château has improved yet further, with more consistency between vintages and careful tannin management to ensure drinkability from a much earlier stage than in previous eras.

For that reason, I have no hesitation in recommending vintages such as 2008, 2009, 2013 or 2014 to drink today. These wines will develop greater complexity with further bottle age, but they are already so complete and delicious it is hard to keep your hands off them. And, of course, Forts de Latour and Pauillac de Latour are made in a more accessible style anyway. Château Latour is on top form across all its wines at present – taste and see for yourself.
