Collection: The Timeless Elegance of Emidio Pepe Wines
Since 1964, Emidio Pepe has been a pioneer in winemaking, crafting some of the most exceptional wines in Abruzzo. With a passion for biodynamic farming and a focus on quality at every step, Pepe’s wines are a true reflection of the land and the tradition behind them.
Emidio Pepe’s vineyards produce three native varietals: Montepulciano, Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, and Pecorino. These wines are made with the utmost respect for tradition, including organic farming, and hand-harvesting – white grapes are crushed by feet and the red destemmed by hand. Each bottle is naturally fermented and crafted to age gracefully, with half of the production held back for further maturation (there are currently cellaring over 350,000 bottles).
Nestled in the Teramo province, Emidio Pepe’s vineyards benefit from the unique microclimate created by the Adriatic Sea and the cool air from the Gran Sasso mountains. Pepe’s 55 years of winemaking expertise shines through in every bottle, offering you a taste of Abruzzo’s finest terroir, completely untouched by chemicals or commercial yeasts.
One of the standouts is Pepe’s Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, which was produced annually in two versions: one from young vines and the other, Selezione Vecchie Vigne, from older vines aged a minimum of five years before release to the export market. Starting in 2024, following an extensive soil study of their vineyards, they made the decision to replace the old-vine Montepulciano release with two distinct single-vineyard wines: Casa Pepe and Branella, the 2020 vintage marks the first production of both wines.
