Collection: Bordeaux 2020: A Triumphant Vintage

Of that outstanding trio of Bordeaux vintages, 2018-2020, the last, while arguably being the highest quality overall, is certainly the most accessible today. 2018 has a density of fruit that is still forbidding, while 2019's tannins are prominent. 2020 succeeds in its joyful combination of freshness, concentration and ripe tannins. It's a wonderfully complete vintage, and showing so already.

We have a broad range of 2020 Bordeaux in stock, including large and very large formats with which to toast significant life events of that year. From Pomerol, Bourgneuf and Vieux Château Certan offer drinking for different occasions, but both are lovely expressions of this special terroir. And for the very best from Pomerol, it's tough to beat Lafleur and all its spicy, intricate beauty.

Over on the Left Bank, Lafite for under $750 is attractive, with large formats also available; at a more everyday level, try Duhart-Milon from the same stable or the excellent Calon-Segur from St. Estephe.

Back in Pauillac, both Pichons (Baron and Comtesse) are stellar, and with a decant already thrilling wines. Pontet-Canet likewise has such silky tannins these days that you can relish a bottle now and over the next few years. A lot of options then, and little danger of a misstep in 2020.
