From the ethereal Pinot Noirs of Côte de Nuits to the weighty Chardonnays of the Côte de BeauneBurgundy is home to some of the most coveted red and white wines in the world.

Inside the main regions, appellations lend these classic grapes distinct personalities that collectors can spend a lifetime unpacking; the flinty vibrancy of Chablis, or the velvety intensity of Gevrey-Chambertin. The latest Sotheby’s Wine selection brings together standout bottlings from benchmark estates – many of them difficult to find or already sold out elsewhere.

Leflaive & Associés makes an intense, concentrated Bourgogne Blanc that is produced in the iconic Domaine Leflaive winery and crafted by the same crack team behind the domaine’s four-digit Grand Cru bottlings – a stunning white Burgundy acquisition.

While Leflaive’s Bourgogne Blanc models chiseled cut and mineral depth, the Puligny-Montrachet from another master of the region, François Carillon, shows glossy, fleshy weight and orchard fruit accented with a judicious hint of new oak.

From a walled monopole in Nuits-Saint-Georges comes the finest introduction you can find to Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier, one of Chambolle-Musigny’s most famous talents. The Clos de la Maréchale boasts the refined purity of 100% destemmed Pinot Noir, gently extracted to foreground the elegant tannins and delicate structure.

Critics have ranked Domaine Jean-Paul & Benoît Droin alongside Chablis’ two greatest names: Domaine François Raveneau and Domaine Vincent Dauvissat. This expression—raised on classic Kimmeridgian soils, blending succulent white fruit and mineral freshness—is a contender for Chablis’s greatest deal.

Red or white, from some of the region’s top terroirs and talents, these wines offer a sampling of Burgundy at its best and most accessible.
