A Legendary Vintage

From the beginning, 2005 was recognised as a legendary Bordeaux vintage. A combination of ripe fruit and tannins along with good acidity created concentrated, structured, bright wines. And so they have remained. After a long period of waiting, however, they are just beginning to drink well today.

Wines like Alter Ego de Palmer, Rauzan Segla, Grand Puy Lacoste, Giscours, Brane Cantenac and Talbot are now all softening up nicely and drinking beautifully. The big hitters still have decades left but are now emerging from their immaculate shells: Cos d'Estournel, Lynch Bages, Mouton Rothschild, Montrose and Pichon Baron all made wines among their best ever to that point. It's hard to go wrong with 2005 Bordeaux; certainly not in the selections we have available.
