For many of us, Puligny-Montrachet remains the most viscerally exciting of white Burgundy villages. Puligny's chiselled frame, linear energy and obvious minerality make it the essence of what so much white Burgundy aspires to. Our current inventory includes three Premiers Crus from Etienne Sauzet, a reference-point producer in the village. Try Garenne for a floral lightness of touch, and Combettes or Perrières for a more structured and mineral profile.
Not as well-known but now rapidly achieving recognition is Genot-Boulanger; their Folatières is beautifully aromatic and detailed. I make a nod too to Ramonet's Enseignères; although a producer from neighboring Chassagne-Montrachet, Ramonet's is an outstanding Puligny; try the 2018 or 2021 for immediate consumption and the 2020 over the next five years.
