A decade ago, not many of us were familiar with the wines of Pierre Duroché in Gevrey-Chambertin. Today, Duroché is a name on the lips of many Burgundy lovers, and an undoubted top domaine in the village.
The understated Pierre is the fifth generation of his family at the domaine and makes wines from a variety of sites around Gevrey. He also produces négociant wines from grapes purchased from his parents-in-law (Domaine Jacques Cacheux). This thankfully permits a little more volume and wines from outside Gevrey.
The style of the wines is, above all, one of precision. These are stunningly pure and sensual wines, radiant with jewel-like minerality and pure dark fruits. If you are not yet acquainted with these wines, we suggest you jump on them. They are as rare as they are fine.
