2020 is a gorgeous, successful, complete Burgundy vintage. A warm but steady growing season has yielded bright, mineral wines with plenty of fruit balanced by judicious acidity. Compared to 2018 and 2019, also warm years, there is more purity and freshness in both colours.
Where better to start than with Joseph Drouhin, a domaine whose wines always offer such honest expressions of their vintage? In white, my picks would be the Meursault village, and Chassagne Morgeot; and in red, the Côte de Nuits Villages, Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle Premier Cru and Bonnes Mares. But really, it's hard to put a foot wrong in 2020, especially with Drouhin. Happy hunting.
