The 2019 Vintage from Domaine Fourrier

Victor Rabot |

We are pleased to offer a selection of wine from the impressive 2019 vintage from Domaine Fourrier and Jean-Marie Fourrier's negociant label.

Originally established in 1930, the estate has flourished under Jean-Marie’s guidance, spanning 9 hectares across Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis, and Vougeot. His philosophy of minimal intervention—strict old-vine selection, gentle extractions, and careful use of oak (only 20% new barrels)—results in wines of purity, balance, and finesse.

Revered for his meticulous approach and deep respect for Burgundy’s terroir, Jean-Marie continues to produce some of the most elegant and refined wines of the Côte de Nuits.

Wines under the label Jean-Marie Fourrier are from a micro-négoce, which he has secured long-term leases on exceptional vineyards. He applies the same meticulous practices to these sites as he does to his family’s holdings, resulting in wines of equally outstanding quality.

The 2019 Vintage

A remarkable year for the Domaine, Jean Marie has produced wine with outstanding elegance and concentration but unfortunately, yields were down by 30 to 40%. For this specific year, he has decided to reintroduce 20% of stems to absorb any excesses from the vintage.

With his expertise, skills, and exceptional terroir, he has crafted wines that showcase seductive fruit with silky tannins, and remarkable aging potential for all of his range.

Critics have commended his 2019 vintage. Jasper Morris MW said on his Chambertin: “… The nose has it all, clearly all the nobility it should have. The crunchy mineral tension found throughout the Fourrier wines pays dividends here. There is exceptional intensity but it is beautifully judged…”  – 96-98 Points

Another notable highlight from his range is the Gevrey-Chambertin Vielles Vignes: “Another fine luxurious purple with an energetic nose. Actually, this Gevrey is quite discreet at first, but the wine is sensational on the palate, just on the cusp of red and black, enough of the classical savoury finish to prevent the ripeness getting out of hand. Beautifully managed and very persistent.” – 92-94 Points

Do not overlook the great value of his Bourgogne village.
