Savart's Brilliant L'Ouverture

Over the last decade, the Champagne domaine of Frédéric Savart has quietly established itself among the top grower producers. It's a tiny domaine: Frédéric only farms four hectares (about 9 acres) of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, on the north side of the Montagne de Reims, around the village of Écueil. But what Fred lacks in quantity, he makes up for in quality.

The hallmark of the Savart wines is a textural richness and depth, allied to a racy purity and mineral heart. These are the kind of beautifully made wines that can only result from top-quality fruit and meticulous vinification.

L'Ouverture is the 'entry level' wine, a 100% Pinot Noir blended from three consecutive recent vintages. It's a joyful, hedonistic wine at a price that makes it a great contender for your house champagne.
