Puligny-Montrachet's Domaine Leflaive is riding as high as it ever has done. Since the introduction of new corks in 2014, the wines are more reliable than ever, and have become emblematic wines of this, the most mineral of all the Burgundy white wine villages.
We are pleased to offer a range of wines from two recent, contrasting vintages: 2020 and 2021. The 2020s are ripe and concentrated, with excellent acidity underpinning layers of fruit. The '21s are much lighter and more charming, the product of a cooler growing season. What they lack in long-term aging potential, they make up for in their winsome, early drinkability.
The Bourgogne Blanc and the village-level Puligny-Montrachet are great places to start, and already the tensile, focused style of the domaine is in evidence. Moving up the quality ladder, the dazzling Pucelles Premier Cru is gloriously multi-layered. The Grands Crus, of course, are some of the region's finest whites; the hedonism of the Bâtards subordinated in the Chevalier to a broader sense of grandeur and dignity.
