Domaine Comtesse de Cherisey: The Wondrous Whites of Blagny

Cat Stephani |

Perched in the high hills of Blagny above Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, Comtesse de Cherisey is a steadfast domaine with a history of pure and intensely mineral whites that continue to reveal some of the best kept secrets of the Côte d’Or.

Once tended to by the Cistercian monks of Mezieres in the 14th century, Hélène Martelet-de-Chérisey and Laurent Martelet are the current vignerons working rigorously to preserve the heritage and tradition of this ancient terroir.

The vineyards are hand-harvested from across 9 hectares, including a small collection of limestone-laden premier cru sites with vines averaging over 60 years of age.

From the rich and layered power of their La Genelotte monopole of Meursault-Blagny, to racy expressions of the Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru La Garenne, the wondrous whites of Comtesse de Cherisey reveal a true sense of purity and value.

If these wines are one of the well-kept secrets of the Côte de Beaune, we insist it is one you join us in sharing!
