Cyprien Arlaud wears two hats: as the boss at Domaine Arlaud in Morey-St.-Denis, and as a négociant producing wines under his own name. Under this scheme, although leasing the vineyards, he manages the viticulture, ensuring a style and quality of grapes that he seeks.
The Arlaud style, which extends to the Cyprien range, tends towards purity and precision as a means of capturing terroir expression. These are unforced, elegant wines that are classically Burgundian. We are offering two contrasting vintages, the crunchy, accessible 2021s, and the more structured and ageworthy 2020s.
The prices are excellent for these prestigious appellations: Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru aux Reas around $100, similar for one of Nuits-St-Georges' best Premiers Crus, Chaignots. We also have magnums of the latter. At these prices, it would seem a shame to hold back.
