Founded in Reims in 1843, Krug is renowned for a style defined by depth, structure, and longevity. The wines are distinctly vinous in character, combining richness of texture with layered complexity and an exceptional capacity to age. This approach finds its fullest expression in the Grande Cuvée 173ème Édition, a masterful assemblage of 150 wines from 13 different years, with a base year of 2017 and reserve components reaching back to 2001 – an architecture of flavor that delivers remarkable consistency and breadth.
The vintage wines, by contrast, capture the singular identity of a given year. The 2011 vintage reflects a challenging growing season, yet emerges with poise and balance, built on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Meunier in harmonious proportion. Older vintages in the collection, extending back to 1990, offer a rare opportunity to experience these wines with full maturity. In extremely limited quantities, Clos du Mesnil from the 2008 vintage stands apart as one of Champagne’s most precise and coveted single-vineyard expressions.
