A Pauillac Stalwart: Grand-Puy-Lacoste

Nick Jackson MW |
For Bordeaux lovers, few wines are more reassuring than a well-matured Pauillac. Even more so when it is affordable, something of a rarity in this most prestigious Left Bank village. It's that recipe – Pauillac class at attractive prices – that has for so long kept drinkers returning to Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste.

Situated just behind Lynch-Bages, Grand-Puy-Lacoste occupies a magnificent, gravelly terroir in the heart of Pauillac. And the wine style reflects it: always beautifully balanced between concentrated dark fruits, freshness and ageworthy structure. We have a range of vintages in stock including the 2000, a gorgeous year to drink today; the hedonistic, irresistible 2009, and perhaps their greatest recent vintage, the 2010. This is a wine of huge depth and complexity, showcasing the full glory of the site and the meticulous winemaking of the Borie family.
