For some reason, you rarely hear Bordeaux lovers discussing Château l’Eglise-Clinet. Strange, because it is not as if there is an abundance of top properties in Pomerol. But that’s just what Eglise-Clinet is, a producer of velvety, sensual Pomerol from the heart of the plateau. Owned by the Durantou family, Eglise-Clinet is now managed by the children of Denis, a much-missed figure renowned for his gorgeous wines.
We have a variety of vintages available: the 2013 and 2014 are already drinking beautifully after a decant, while 2016 and 2020 will continue improving for some time yet. 2015 from a double-magnum looks like a steal from a lovely vintage.
Do not sleep on the second wine, always one of the Right Bank’s best bets: we have brilliant large formats of 2015 and 2018, which are in their prime drinking window today. Did someone say dinner party?
