The story of Napa’s 2022 vintage will be the story of how growers coped with a punishing heatwave that arrived in early September, pushing temperatures to the triple digits for a week straight. Harvest for the 2022 Insignia began on September 9th, just as the heatwave drew to a close, continuing into the first week of October.
Insignia’s strength has always been the tapestry of vineyards used to make it. With sites as far north as Rutherford and as far south as the Suscol vineyard, the ’22 Insignia is a testament to how a broad palette can charm excellence from a difficult vintage. This Insignia is a flashy wine: candied cherries, blackcurrant, cocoa powder, and espresso aromas practically spill from the glass. The tannins have a smooth, polished texture. In the crowded field of Napa icons, this vintage stands out as one of the most remarkably approachable Insignias. For all its youthful energy, the wine’s intense structure will support aging for decades to come.
We are pleased to offer this release for delivery starting the first week of October, at a price of $365 per bottle, with 10% off when you purchase a 6-pack.
