The Super Tuscans take top billing as our best-selling Italian category this year. From the opulent 2022 vintage, Sassicaia, Tignanello and Masseto have all excited our clients. And we still have a few magnums of Ornellaia 2021 for drinkers who prefer the detail and complexity of that year.
In Piedmont, the two Conternos continue to sell well. The 2017 vintage is now drinking well, and Giacomo's Barolo Francia is, as usual, a standout of the vintage, while Aldo's Romirasco shows the usual dazzling intensity and richness. Note also Giacomo's Barolo Cerretta 2011, a gorgeous wine to try today.
For more everyday holiday options, try our go-to Prosecco, Sorro, for all your bellini needs; Via Alpina for Pinot Grigio, and, for a charmingly different white, the Russo Etna Bianco Nerina. This volcanic terroir produces whites of great intensity and freshness at very modest alcohol levels. What's not to like?
