1996 - 2011: Fifteen Years of Glorious Barolo

Nick Jackson MW |

While Barolo is being made in a more accessible style in the 2020s, older bottlings generally require significant bottle age to show their best. We have accumulated a significant amount of mature Barolo from some of the region's top names, all in stock and ready for your enjoyment.

An obvious place to start would be with Bruno Giacosa, from whose great cantina we have a number of bottlings from the glory years of the late 1990s. Another brilliant traditionalist is Cavallotto, whose Riserva 2001 will fulfill all your longings for aromatic splendor and depth of flavor.

In a slightly more fruit-forward style, the wines of Sandrone, Aldo Conterno and Vajra offer huge pleasure, especially with 15 or more years, as we offer here. And a couple of final standouts: Roagna's very rare, long-aged etichetta nera 2006, Mascarello's Monprivato 2001 and Rinaldi's Brunate 2006. These are simply glorious wines at the very acme of Italy's achievements in wine.
