To put it as simply as possible, Benoît Droin is making some of the best Chablis available at present, for very fair prices. Still (for some reason!) under the radar in the US, Jean-Paul & Benoît Droin has a large portfolio of the best Premier and Grand Crus in Chablis.
I have been tasting annually with Benoît for years, and I can testify that the tasting is an exercise in terroir: each wine keenly different from its neighbour. As Chablis 101s go, it can't be bettered. All of which is to say, if you love classic Chablis: dry, mineral, precise and steely, you will love the Droin wines. The 2023 vintage is fresh and seamless, while remaining “satiny and racy”, as noted by William Kelley of Wine Adovcate.
