Champagne Pierre Péters, led today by Rodolphe Péters, has become a benchmark grower champagne for collectors worldwide. The domaine's reputation is built on its lineup of steely, incisive Blanc de Blancs champagnes; models of Chardonnay precision and minerality.
The most celebrated wine is the single vineyard Chétillons from the village of Le Mesnil; a study of Grand Cru class and depth. From the same village comes the rare Montjolys, from a single plot of clay-flint soils, very different from the usual chalk of the Côte des Blancs.
But do not allow these starry wines to distract you from the non-vintage blend, the Cuvée de Réserve. This is far from a conventional non-vintage champagne, comprising as it does a base of a single vintage and then approximately half the blend made up of a perpetual reserve of older wines, dating back to 1988. These are wines of outstanding complexity and depth, particularly in the well-priced magnum format.
